Overview: A survivor of a legendary ship, wrecked in the devastating hurricane of 1871, and rescued by Smögen fishermen, has left some puzzling messages behind. Probing them unfolds a great historical calamity – nigh lost in the mist of time – which once brought down a famous Yorkshire shipping empire.
A group of old schoolmates with roots in Smögen decide to turn stones and canvas, only to discover the terrible truth also involves their own elders. Odd visits escalate into a spate of artefact thefts, and only by local knowledge, rapid action and intensive collaboration can they prevent a treasure hunting syndicate from reaching its goal.
